Shop Where I Live launches online

PIERCE — Pierce County Economic Development (PCED) has brought a whole new way to shop local through a new online marketplace.

PCED has partnered with Shop Where I Live to launch www.piercecounty.shopwhereilive.com, an online platform for small businesses to come together to sell products and services online.

“We must band together as a community, virtually, to help our local businesses,” said Susan Norris, director of Economic Development. “Providing this online e-commerce platform free of charge to local main street businesses, home based businesses, and service businesses is an important way PCED is helping our local entrepreneurs continue their operations.”

This platform is one way for communities to still support local businesses from the comfort of their homes and offices.

“A key component to the Shop Where I Live concept is having businesses sell together, which provides an incredible convenience and a variety of product and services for shoppers.  Customers do want to shop local and support their community, but don’t always have the time to research individual businesses online or go into multiple stores to find what they’re looking for,” said Cherie Edilson, CEO and co-founder of Shop Where I Live.

Pierce County businesses have started to add products and services to the site and register for the online directory. PCED encourages everyone to check back frequently as more businesses add products and services. The site can accommodate 200 businesses featuring 50 products each.

If a Pierce County business is interested in adding items for sale, they should visit the site and click on the “Start Selling” tab. Registration is easy and Shop Where I Live has employees available to assist people over the phone or by email.
