Primaries to take place on Tuesday

OSMOND —  Some residents of Nebraska — those who did not take advantage of the mail-in ballots — will go to the polls on Tuesday, May 12, to vote in the primary election. The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at designated voting places in Pierce County.

School and City

There are no choices to be made for Osmond City Council or School District 42R offices. In both cases, there were not enough filings to eliminate any candidates in the primary. All will appear on the General Election ballot.

Nonpartisan Ballot

On the Nonpartisan ballot, Patti S. Gubbels and Mike Goos are the only two candidates in the race for State Board of Education District 3.

There is only one other candidate listed on the Nonpartisan ballot: Tom Briese, for member of the Legislature District 41.

Republican Ticket

The Republican ticket includes one local race . . . that of Pierce County Commissioner in District 1. Butch Anderson, John A. Steinkraus, Tom Kuether and Steve MacGregor are listed on the ballot; however, incumbent Marvin Elwood Jr. filed for reelection late and is a write-in candidate.

In the race for President of the United States, President Donald Trump is challenged by Bill Weld.

In other Republican contests, incumbent Ben Sasse has filed for reelection for U.S. Senator. Also seeking the nomination is Matt Innis. For Representative in Congress, incumbent Adrian Smith is pitted against William Elfgren, Justin Moran, Larry Lee Scott Bolinger and Arron Kowalski.

Democratic Ballot

On the Democratic ballot for President are four candidates: Joe Biden, Tulsi Gabbard, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

Seeking nomination for U.S. Senator on the Democratic ballot are candidates Larry Marvin, Chris Janicek, Dennis Frank Macek, Angie Philips, Alisha Shelton, Daniel M. Wik and Andy Stock. Mark Elworth Jr. is unopposed for the nomination for Representative in Congress.

Libertarian Ticket

In the Presidential race on the Libertarian Ticket, there are six candidates: Max Abramson, Dan Behrman, Lincoln Chafee, Jacob Hornberger, Jo Jorgensen and Adam Kokesh.

On the senatorial ticket, Gene Siadek is unopposed, as is Dustin C. Hobbs on the congressional ticket.
