Positive case recorded here

WAUSA — Despite confirmation that a positive case of COVID-19 has been discovered at Wausa Public School, school administrators are trying their best to make sure school continues without too many changes.

“Fortunately for us, that person has been very dilligent about wearing a mask and having their students wear a mask when they cannot social distance,” Supt. Brad Hoesing said. “As of now, the Health Dept. has not recommended that we close or send kids home.”

The positive case has prompted school officials to push the COVID dial into Orange here, though.

That means students will be required to  wear masks when they cannot social distance.

The kids are also eating in their classrooms, instead of in the cafeteria.

Patrons at the volleyball games here will also be asked to wear a mask in order to attend a game here. Concessions at athletic events are also being limited.

“Finally, we ask that everyone self-monitor students for symptoms related to COVID-19, and if they show symptoms, that you keep your children home,” Hoesing said.

Hoesing said by having everyone work together, the community will be able to get through this.

"Hopefully, this is short-lived, but if it isn’t we all need to do our part to keep our kids healthy, in school, and in their extra-curricular activities,” Hoesing said.

Wausa School returned to yellow covid status on Friday, Sept. 25, at 4 p.m.
