Osmond residents show their patriotism

Independence Day was celebrated with many fireworks displays in Osmond on both Saturday and Sunday nights. One of the biggest was that of “Ganseboom,” a group that has been putting on fireworks displays for 13 years, according to organizers.

“We are now commercially licensed to buy commercial fireworks as well,” said Stephanie Timmerman. “This year was the first year we did electronic fireworks so that they don’t all have to be hand lit.”

Asked about the number of people who attended this year, Timmerman said, “We aren’t sure how many people come, but we know there are a lot, as well as many people coming from surrounding towns. Also, this takes a full week to set up. Most of it is paid for through donations from community business members.”

Judging from some of the other huge displays seen around town, Osmond may be well on its way to becoming a “4th of July City,” as residents proudly show their patriotism by lighting up the skies on Independence Day!
