Nonpartisan ballot is very small

CENTER — Nonpartisan registered voters will find that their Primary ballot is very small – many will only have one race on them and others, depending if you live in Crofton City or Niobrara Township, will have two races on your ballots. 

Do not let this small ballot deter you from voting. The votes for these races are important so your vote is extremely necessary. A postage paid returned ballot envelope is provided in your ballot packet so it is very easy to cast your vote.

The Nonpartisan voters do have other options. In Nebraska, these registered voters can request to vote for senatorial and congressional candidates in addition to their usual nonpartisan races. This year the Nebraska Democratic and Libertarian parties “opened’ their primaries so these nonpartisan partisan ballots will have their presidential, senatorial and congressional races on their ballots. 

Choices are: Nonpartisan Republican Ballot – Congressional and Senatorial candidates; Nonpartisan Democratic Ballot – Presidential, Congressional and Senatorial candidates; and Nonpartisan Libertarian Ballot – Presidential, Congressional and Senatorial candidates. If you choose any one of these ballots, you will receive a total of two ballots – your usual nonpartisan ballot and one of these nonpartisan partisan ballots.

The request form was printed in the local papers the last several weeks. Also, the form is located at the Knox County website of www.co.knox.ne.us, click on the “Election Information” button on the home page and select “Nonpartisan Voters Request Form.” 

Another option is that you can write a note or letter stating your name, address, choice of nonpartisan partisan ballot, sign the note/letter, take a picture of it with your phone, and email to clerk@knox.nacone.org or fax to 402-288-5605.
