New treasurer hired; park, cemetery work to be done

OSMOND — The Osmond City Council met Monday, Oct. 14, at Cornerstone Offices. Recently, interviews were held for the position of city treasurer and, prior to the meeting, Alexis Buol was hired for the position. Cindy Hoffman will continue her work as city treasurer during the transition, with plans to announce her retirement at a later date.

Donation to Summer Youth

Mark Moes and Michelle Reikofski of District 42R Board of Education were in attendance at the Monday meeting. Reikofski gave a brief overview of a school project that started about nine months ago to raise money by selling booster signs. She said a portion of the proceeds were to be allocated to the Summer Youth Program. The signs are still for sale, Reikofski said, and if any more are sold, it will mean additional funds for the Summer Youth Program. Reikofski and Moes then presented a check to the City for $6,750 to be applied to the Summer Youth Program.

Report on Cemetery Work Given

Councilman John Aschoff reported Bob Kint of Randolph contacted him earlier in the day, saying he made an error on his bid to install a fence at the cemetery. He said the fence posts will be gray and the rails white with gray stripes. There will be a rubber mat around the posts to prevent a need for trimming. The total bid for materials and installation is actually $9,500.  The council approved the revised bid from Kint to install the fence at the cemetery with installation being done before the end of May next year. It was also reported that the brick pillars at the entrance of the cemetery are in need of repair. Council agreed every effort should be made to repair the pillars rather than replacing them. Councilman Aschoff will oversee the work to try to salvage the pillars.

Park Work to Be Done

Marvin Kumm of the Osmond Park Board reported he met with the group the previous evening.  Members confirmed their earlier decision of beige as the choice of color for the new matting in the playground area of the park.
