More budget hearing planning taking place

OSMOND — Budget planning is continuing in the county. Three entities have scheduled hearings for next week for their 2020-21 budgets — Osmond Community School, Pierce County and Pierce County Ag Society.

School District 42R

For its 2020-21 fiscal needs, Osmond School District 42R has a disbursement and transfer total of $6,481,839. Last year, the number was $6,130,490. The total personal and real property tax requirement for non-bond funds is $3,022,223.00. Of that amount, $2,916,162.00 is in the general fund with $25,253.00 in the special building fund and $80,808.00 in the qualified capital purpose undertaking fund. Last year the total was $3,022,222.00 with $2,891,919.00 in the general fund, $50,505.00 in the special building fund and $79,798.00 in the qualified capital purpose undertaking fund.

The proposed general fund tax rate this year is $0.771207 while last year it was $0.742001. The special building fund proposed tax rate this year is $0.006678. Last year it was $0.012958. The qualified capital purpose undertaking fund proposed rate this year is $0.021370. Last year, it was $0.020474.

The school district budget and levy hearings are scheduled for Monday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. in the school multi-purpose room.

Pierce County

The total personal and real property tax requirement for Pierce County is $4,430,000. The budget for the ensuing year is $23,849,908.31. Last year, the figure was $19,831,938.49. The proposed tax rate is $0.245663. A year ago, it was $0.225625.

The county hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the commissioners’ meeting room.

Pierce County Ag Society

The Notice of Budget Hearing for Pierce County Ag Society is also included in this week’s issue. For the ag society, the proposed budget is $370,000. The actual/estimated disbursements for 2019-20 were $339,399. The personal and real property tax required for non-bond purposes would be $113,296.05.

The budget hearing for the Pierce County Ag Society is set for Monday, Sept. 14, at the Pierce County Fairgrounds pavilion.
