Memorial Day Program

Sandra Cross | Laurel Advocate

Dwayne Freeman and Jim Thompson all salute during the playing of the National Anthem at the start of Monday’s Memorial Day Program here. The rain quit just long enough Monday morning for the Memorial Day program to take place at the Laurel Cemetery. The American Legion Post No. 54, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4504 and the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School put together a short program for those in attendance. The prayer was given by Pastor Jim Splitt. Angela Barnell sang the National Anthem. The placing of the flowers by the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries were presented by Sharyl Luedtke and Cherry Urwiler. Jim Lipp read the “Roll Call” of the Deceased Veterans. Taps were played by Bob Dickey with Mariah Barnell playing the echo.
