Meeting set to look back at flood recovery, look forward to growth

OSMOND — Osmond Venture Resources, Inc. (OVR) will host an evening of reflection for the community on Thursday, March 26, at the Osmond city auditorium.

According to organizers of the event, “It will be a look back at our flood recovery efforts and a look forward into growing northeast Nebraska. We hope you will save the date.”

The evening will begin with a short social hour, followed by a meal with free will offering.

Keynote speaker will be Mike Flood, who will speak on growing northeast Nebraska. Flood works as a broadcaster and attorney in Nebraska. He started Flood Communications in 1999 and now owns eight radio stations in Norfolk, Nebraska City, Beatrice, Fairbury and the state’s largest Spanish-speaking radio station in Omaha.

In 2015, Flood launched Norfolk’s first-ever TV station and has since added new TV stations in Columbus and Beatrice. These radio and TV stations work together as a statewide media network called News Channel Nebraska.

In 2005, Flood was elected to the Nebraska Legislature and subsequently elected Speaker of the Legislature in 2007 and continued in that role until the completion of his second term in 2012. He was the youngest and longest-serving Speaker in Nebraska history.

Flood earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and received his law degree from the University of Nebraska. He is currently counsel at Norfolk’s oldest law firm, Jewell and Collins. He and his wife, Mandi, live in Norfolk and have two children, Brenden and Blake.

More details of this event will soon follow.
