Local farmer directs donation to fire department, EMTs

OSMOND — Local farmer Mike Gutz and wife Paula recently directed $2,500 to Community HOME Team of Osmond through America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Bayer Fund.

Paula, who works at Security Bank here, said the donation ultimately was designated toward the Osmond Volunteer Fire Department and EMTs . She said they found out Mike was chosen earlier last year, but had to figure out how to work it out so that the two organizations would receive the donation. The Bayer Fund then had to approve giving the funds through HOME Team (the official non-profit name of the organization).

Celebrating its 10th year,America’s Farmers Grow Communities partners with farmers to support nonprofit organizations strengthening rural communities The program offers farmers the chance to direct a $2,500 donation to a nonprofit of their choice. It has awarded more than $33 million to more than 8,000 nonprofits across rural America.

“Abetter life is Bayer’s goal. Farmers are invested in their communities, they root for their neighbors, and they know when and where there is a need,” said Al Mitchell, vice president Corporate Engagement, Bayer. “Farmers are one of America’s best resources, which is why Grow Communities partners with them to direct donations to the organizations they are passionate about and that make a positive impact and a better life in communities “

Mike and Paula expres sed their deep appreciation to the fire department and ambulance crews for all they do for the Osmond community

Dennis Kuhl, representing the fire department, stated that their funds would go toward vehicle repair, while Missy Hoppe of the Osmond ambulance crew said the funds they received will probably go toward an “air mattress,” which is used for transporting patients.
