LCC FFA Chapter takes part in State event

LINCOLN — The LCC FFA chapter had an exciting week representing the school at State FFA.

Eight groups made their way to State FFA recently. The week was packed with contests. This is the first year State Convention has been in person since 2018.

Starting Wednesday off strong, Ag Demo, Ag Communications, Ag Mech, Floriculture, Hall of Chapters and Extemporaneous competed.

Sarah Karnes placed eighth individually in floriculture. Samantha Pehrson received a silver medal for Extemporaneous speaking.

On Thursday, the Agronomy and Welding team competed. The youth also got to tour Certified Piedmontese that afternoon. They learned the processing of their farm to table operation.

Out of the Welding team, Miles Forsberg placed first in his division Oxyacetylene and Caleb Lipp placed first in ARC welding.

Friday was also packed with competition. Starting early at six in the morning, the Livestock Judging team began their contest. Youth not on the Livestock judging team did the Living to Serve Project.

Individuals walked across the stage on Friday to receive placings and other awards. Jaclyn Kempf, the chapter’s Secretary, received her State Degree. A State Degree is amongst the highest awards a high school student can receive.
