Jeron’s Java is new local business

OSMOND — Jeron’s Java Roasting Company is a new coffee-roasting business in Osmond. Jerry and Sharon Wagner opened their business in September of 2019 in their home. The business offers a variety of products, including black coffee, flavored coffee, alcohol-infused coffee and cappuccino and hot chocolate mixes.

Sharon said she came up with the idea of the coffee company “from out of nowhere, and I credit God for putting it in my head!”

Sharon said she was looking for something part-time where she could set her own hours.  “When I told Jerry and the kids about it, they didn’t believe me, because I didn’t even drink coffee at that time. But I couldn’t get the idea out of my head. When I tried to think of a name, nothing seemed right. I just couldn’t find anything that clicked. I was trying to find a logo or picture that would catch people’s attention and portray our personalities.”

She continued, “I’ve always loved caricature drawings, so I found an online artist and sent him a picture. When it came back, we decided that was our logo and putting our names together just seemed to work.”

Sharon said she was going to run the business herself, but as the couple started doing more research, Jerry became more involved. Each of them was interested in different aspects of the business — Jerry does all the roasting and most of the grinding, and Sharon does the flavoring, infusing and packaging.

There are no other employees at this time. The Wagners’ shop is located in a detached building on their home property.

“We do not have set business hours, but are available by appointment,” Sharon advised. “We typically do vendor or craft shows most weekends, and recently purchased a trailer to use for outside venues during spring, summer and fall events.”

The former Sharon Kuhl is an Osmond native who graduated from Osmond High School in 1986, while Jerry graduated from Pierce High School in 1979. Their children are Brittany Foote, husband Tyler, and twin daughters, Grace and Zoey of Wayne; Nick Penlerick and wife Morgan of rural Neligh; Jason Wagner and family of Norfolk, Katie Wagner of Denver, Jared Wagner and family of Denver, and Karissa Chumley and family of North Carolina.

“We’ve found that we really enjoy this business and love meeting and talking to customers face-to-face,” Sharon continued. “And yes, I’ve also found that I do love coffee!”
