Gearing Up

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge kindergarten student Hadley Nordby is all smiles as she tries on a fireman’s coat and helmet. LCC elementary school students toured the Laurel Fire Hall last week as part of Fire Safety Week. Students were taught by local firemen how to be safe in case of a fire. Firemen Scott Rath, Derek Hirschman and Jeremy Barnes instructed the children on what to do in case of a fire. They emphasized needing to know their parents names, address, what number to dial for a fire and if they had a safe route out of the house. The firemen also discussed smoke detectors and how important they are. The students were able to tour the Fire Hall and see the equipment that is used for both medical and fire-related calls.
