Fundraiser ‘pork’fection

COLERIDGE - The Coleridge Community Club is inviting everyone to come together and pig out for a good cause.

The club is expecting about 10 teams to participate in its third Rib Fest set for Saturday, Aug. 6, and even more people to come and eat and vote for their favorite appetizers and meat.

Rib Fest competitors will be provided with three racks of ribs and start grilling at 10 a.m. at the Coleridge ball park with gates opening to the public at 11:30 a.m. Gate fees include the meal and voting tickets which starts at noon.

“There will be buckets set out where people can vote for the ones they like the best by placing their ticket in that person’s bucket. Then we tally up those to determine the winner,” said Jenni Bartling, one of the event’s organizers.

Prizes will be awarded for first through third for ribs and appetizer.

Inflatables will be set up for children’s entertainment and a cornhole tournament will also take place at the event.

A concession stand will be available on site but people are encouraged to bring their own beverages and lawn chairs for the festivities, Bartling said.

Bartling said pre-registration is strongly encouraged for both the Rib Fest and cornhole tournament.

Money raised from the event will go toward purchasing new picnic tables for the park,
