Flag presentation

A special flag was presented to the Laurel Veterans recently at the Veterans Day breakfast. Nate Granquist, having recently returned from Afghanistan, presented the United States flag that was flown over Jalalabad, Afghanistan. Granquist served with the United States Air Force from 2013- 20. With the flag, a certificate with these words: This flag is presented to the Laurel VFW. Let it be known, this flag was flown in the face of the enemy, illuminated in the dark, and bears witness to the removal of terrorist forces threatening the United States of America. It was flown with pride for our nation’s elite Task Force, in remembrance of all innocents who have lost their lives in the terrorist attacks.

Local veterans on hand to receive the special flag from Nate Granquist were: (back row) Dwayne Freeman, (front row) Jim Thompson, Nate Granquist, Lloyd Luedtke, Regg Ward and Gene Twiford.
