Entertainment, exhibits on tap at Dixon Co. Fair

CONCORD - This weekend will be jam-packed full of lots of things to see and do at the Dixon County Fair.

The fair is set for Wednesday, July 6 through Sunday, July 10, with the Love-A-Lot petting zoo, antique machinery exhibit and the River City carnival open daily.

Here’s a look at what else is on the schedule:

Wednesday and Thursday are set aside for 4-H with entries being dropped off and judged, as well as the 4-H horse show, bucket calves and open class beef show. On Thursday, Farmer’s Pride is sponsoring a free breakfast starting at 7:30 a.m. The Pioneer Farm Award and 4-H Volunteer Awards will be given at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The fun continues Friday with a modified and antique tractor pull set for 11 a.m. The open class beef, rabbit and poultry shows will also be held Friday. And then make way for some big-time entertainment when Billie J. Comedy takes the grandstand at 5:30 p.m. Country singer Angie K on Stage is up next at 7:30 p.m. Team sorting will also take place at that time. Rock/country singer Ben Grillet takes the stage later at 9 p.m.

4-Hers will showcase swine, sheep, goat and cow-calf pairs at shows throughout Saturday. The nightly entertainment will feature the demo derby beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Many more events will round out the weekend’s festivities. A worship service will take place at 8 a.m. Sunday followed by the Jr. Leaders Omelet Feed. Elite Showmanship Judging and the open class horse show will complete the morning’s schedule. A barbecue, kiddie tractor pull, and the 4-H style revue, music show and presentations will take place in the afternoon. Sunday night’s entertainment will be barrel racing with a start time of 6 p.m.
