Decision made to cancel Summerfest 2021

OSMOND — Despite the efforts of members of Community HOME Team, the decision finally had to be made to cancel the Summerfest celebration for 2021.

Part of the difficulty this year was continued uncertainty because of COVID-19. Although things are finally opening up across the state and the nation, at the time when planning should have begun for Summerfest, things were not quite as clear.

Add to that the fact that Pierce will be holding their Q150 celebration beginning that weekend, as well as a number of other area celebrations, many events are tied up in other communities and were not available. Many parade entries would also be traveling to Pierce for their celebration.

After running into brick walls on many of these subjects, the group finally decided that it would be best to cancel Summerfest this year and plan for a great celebration next year, which will also be an alumni celebration year. The street dance that was planned for Saturday night has also been canceled.

For those who have given consideration to Osmond’s outstanding citizen and outstanding farm family, please give them your vote next year. Those who have committed to donations for this year’s celebration may choose to have their donation pushed to the Summerfest 2022 event or receive a refund.

The Community HOME Team will meet again on Tuesday, July 13, at 3rd Street Bar & Grill. All community members who would like to help in the promotion of Osmond and plan for the town’s events are welcome and encouraged to attend.
