COVID-19 claims another victim

Wausa Smorgasbord 2020 is cancelled

WAUSA— Usually, at this time of year the Smorgasbord committee would be preparing for Wausa’s annual Smorgasbord.

Unfortunately, due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers regret to say they need to cancel this year’s Smorgasbord.

It would have been held Saturday, Oct. 24.

“We are hopeful that we will be able to resume next year when the Smorgasbord is scheduled to be held on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021. Keep your eyes open for Smorgasbord updates in September 2021,” organizers say.

In the meantime, if you are craving the tastes of Smorgasbord at home, remember to visit the Wausa Locker for Swedish meatballs, potato sausage, cold meats, herring, and cheeses.

Although it was mentioned during high school graduation, Smorgasbord Committee members want to take this opportunity to recognize the recipients of the Smorgasbord scholarships for the class of 2020.

They are Ethan Baue, Isabelle Vanness, and Ann Woockman. Congratulations to the scholarship winners and best to all of the 2020 Wausa High School Graduates.

“Let’s look forward to next year as we, hopefully, move out of the pandemic and resume treasured traditions of our lives in this wonderful community,” organizers said.
