Community HOME Team discusses pancake feed, other annual events

OSMOND — Community HOME Team met early in February with a number of items to discuss. Because of COVID-19, the organization had to decide if or when any of the usual events would be held this year. Although the number of cases in this health district have gone down considerably, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) said that, because vaccine supplies are limited, residents should continue wearing a mask, watching distance, washing hands often, staying home when sick, and avoiding the 3Cs – crowded places, close contact with others, and confined spaces.

For this reason, Community HOME Team has postponed the annual pancake feed. There have been a few events held as drive-through events recently, but members didn’t think it would work well with pancakes, eggs and sausage patties. The group will decide at a later date when the pancake feed will be held.

One event that the group does plan to hold at the usual time this year is the annual Easter egg hunt. It is scheduled for Saturday, March 27. More information for that event will be in an ad and an article in the March 24 issue of the Republican.

Another event that was discussed was Summerfest. At this time, the group hopes to still hold Summerfest; however, Lisa Johnson and Erica Frahm are stepping down from the committee in charge of organizing the event. Anyone who would like to join the committee is asked to contact Amanda Koehler. In any case, if it is held, Summerfest might look very different this year compared to previous years.

Community HOME Team will meet again on Tuesday, April 6, at 7 p.m. at 3rd Street Bar & Grill. The name drawn from calendar birthday names for March is Easton Smith. His prize of $10 may be picked up at Security Bank.
