Community Activation Process is brought to the community

OSMOND — Osmond Venture Resources and Pierce County Economic Development are bringing the Entrepreneurial Community Activation Process (ECAP) to Osmond to help identify priorities and actions for the future. ECAP is led by Nebraska Extension and creates an opportunity for all members of the community to share their ideas on the future through an on-line survey and a series of community conversations.  The process is a holistic approach to help communities support growth by understanding their unique characteristics, community assets and potential opportunities.

“We are excited to work with Osmond,” said Marilyn Schlake, Nebraska Extension Educator. She added that, “ECAP was developed in Nebraska and has been successful in other communities at creating an opportunity for individuals to share their ideas, build a common vision and coordinate action to increase community/economic development efforts.”

From now until Wednesday, Feb. 5, individuals who live in or near Osmond or who work in, shop in or frequent Osmond are encouraged to share their ideas on the survey.  Survey questions focus on Osmond’s unique characteristics, assets and potential opportunities. In addition, specific Osmond projects are included to get input.

To take the survey, persons may go to:  https://go.unl.edu/osmondecap. They should reserve about 20 minutes to complete the survey. Print copies are also available for pickup at Security Bank, Osmond city office and Osmond Republican.

All are welcome to attend the upcoming ECAP Community Conversations. All sessions will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the city auditorium.

Feb. 17: Focus on Osmond’s Characteristics – Community members identify strengths and begin a conversation about the future based on the eight ECAP characteristics.

Feb. 24: Survey Results – Community members engage in a conversation around the survey results and their implications.

March 16: Priorities – Community members identify a community vision and discuss initial priorities related to the characteristics.  What will help the community move towards its desired future?

March 30: Next steps toward Action – Community members identify actions to move forward.

TBD: Community Forum to Report Progress
