Coleridge Sunday School students are helping those in need

COLERIDGE — Coleridge children learn from an early age that everyone needs to lend a helping hand.

The Immanuel Lutheran Church Sunday School and Confirmation classes at Immanuel Lutheran Church learned that lesson first-hand recently.

The students have beensaving their offering money, and recently went to Ken’s Corner Market in Coleridge to buy groceries for the local food pantry.

The younger students were paired with confirmation students and each “team” was allowed a set amount of money to spend, per their grocery cart/ basket.

The confirmation students were busy keeping tabs on their cellphones so they knew how much money they were spending.

The group spent approximately $150 and returned to church with several grocery bags full of food items which will be shared with those less fortunate in the community of Coleridge.

The youth of Immanuel are a great example of “loving your neighbor.”

The students are taught by Jenni Bartling, Tina Naslund, Linda Lambert, Susan Kurtzhals and Jacie Burbach.
