Coleridge man dies in farm accident

COLERIDGE — A Coleridge man died Tuesday afternoon in a farm accident near here.

Kelly J. Burbach, 60, Coleridge, was pronounced dead at the scene after becoming trapped in a grain bin on a farm operated by Dave Hansen.

Cedar County Sheriff Larry Koranda said his office received a 911 call about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday reporting a person was trapped in a grain bin between Hartington and Coleridge.

Volunteer firemen from Hartington and Coleridge worked to locate the victim,

Burbach was extricated from the bin and pronounced dead a short time later.

In addition to the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office, agencies responding to the incident included Central Valley Ag Emergency Rescue Team, Hartington Fire, Hartington EMS, Coleridge Fire, Coleridge EMS and LifeNet.

Funeral services were held Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington.
