RANDOLPH — The Randolph Emergency Services squad will be getting a new ambulance soon.

The Randolph City Council Wednesday approved the purchase of a new ambulance for $272,000.

The Randolph Rescue Squad will pay for the ambulance in  seven annual payments of $44,000 each.

Current plans are to use the old unit as a back-up.

The ambulance crew responds to about 150 emergency calls a year.

The city also established a multi-year volunteer sidewalk renovation project in which residents can split the cost of sidewalk repair with the city.

To participate this year, residents can sign up for the 50/50 cost share through next March.

The project must include replacing existing sidewalks in need of repair and curb cut to allow ramp access from street to sidewalk.

A building permit fee of $75 is required when signing up with the amount applied to the overall cost of the project.

The city has $25,000 set aside for the sidewalk cost match program and funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis each year.
