Christmas in Wausa will celebrate the season

WAUSA — Wausa area residents are preparing for the Christmas season with Christmas lights, decorations and greenery all around town - on homes, businesses and even Main Street.

Wausa residents are encouraged to join neighbors and enter to win the Holiday Block Lighting Contest.

Two or more homes on a block can enter the contest and winners will be announced at the Christmas in Wausa event set for 5-7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 6.

The auditorium will be the site for a variety of holiday activities that evening including ornament crafts. Crafting materials will be available for children to make ornaments for the village Christmas tree or to take home.

Santa will be making a Viking-style entrance onto Main Street at 6 p.m. He’ll then be seated in the auditorium to hear children’s holiday wishlists until 7 p.m. The Thabor Lutheran youth will be presenting a live

Those wanting to participate in the Christmas cookie exchange should bring their holiday treats to the auditorium Sunday, Dec. 5. The goodies will be available for purchase at the Christmas in Wausa event in the auditorium. All proceeds will fund the village mitten tree.

The mitten tree is located inside Carlson Home and Auto. Individuals can donate hats and mittens, and place them on the tree anytime. The mittens will be donated and distributed to schools, daycares and churches.

The evening’s events will conclude with the lighting of the village Christmas tree at 7 p.m. and singing carols. The tree is located west of Pinky’s. Winners of Vicking Bucks as well as the Holiday Block Lighting Contest will be announced.
