Christmas in Coleridge is a success

COLERIDGE — Waiting a week paid off.

Old Man Winter tried to play the Grinch and put a damper on the Christmas in Coleridge celebration.

Freezing cold winds in excess of 40 miles per hour and blowing snow forced organizers to postpone the annual Christmas in Coleridge event until Saturday, Dec. 7.

It was worth the wait, though, as area residents packed the Coleridge Community Building to take in the annual Community Club event.

Youngsters were able to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus to share their Christmas wish lists and get a special treat.

Hot beef sandwiches, hot dogs, and chips were all served up for the hungry crowd.

Throughout the evening, bingo, the cash machine and door prizes entertained local residents.

Throughout the evening names were drawn for a chance for a person to stick their hand in the machine and grab for cash. Some folks, like Gene Marksmeier, walked away with quite a bit of cash, while others, like Jeremiah Polak, didn’t fare so well.

Many local businesses donated to help make the Christmas in Coleridge event a success yet again this year.
