Budget hearings are slated for next week

LAUREL — Area residents will have their chance in the upcoming days and weeks to get a better understanding of how their local tax dollars are being spent.

All of the taxing entities around the area will be holding their annual budget hearings this month.

The Laurel City Council will convene at 7 a.m. on Sept. 8 to discuss and vote on a proposed $14.1 million annual budget.

The Cedar County Commission will hold the budget hearing on its proposed $27.8 million annual budget at 8 a.m. on Sept. 14.

Details of both the Cedar County and City of Laurel budget can be found inside this week’s Advocate.

The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School District is also planning a budget hearing this month. Details on that public hearing and proposed budgeted are expected to be released in next week’s Advocate.
