Blaze wrestling team finishes third at L&C Conference tournament

OAKLAND — The Quad County Northeast wrestlers had a solid effort in the Lewis & Clark Conference tournament and came away with a third-place finish.

The Blaze finished behind defending champion Plainview and was just three points behind runner-up Winside, coming away with two conference champions and eight conference medalists.

Tie Hollandsworth and Kolby Casey both ran the table in their round-robin brackets. Hollandsworth took top honors at 152 pounds, while Casey was the champion at 195 pounds.

Nolan Ohlrich (145) and Colby Wathor (182) were consolation champions for the Blaze. Fourthplace medals went to Carter Olson (120), Dominic Wilcox (126), Sutton Ehlers (160) and Fischer Carson (285).

On Saturday, the Blaze took a limited lineup to the Oakland-Craig Invitational and came home with a pair of medalists.

Casey finished as the runner-up at 195 pounds, while Hollandsworth was third at 152 pounds.

The Blaze compete in the Plainview Invitational on Saturday and will close out the regular season with a quadrangular at Ponca on Thursday, Feb. 4.
