Biernbaum has filed for Bargstadt’s Council spot

RANDOLPH — The Randolph City Council will have a new Board member this year.

Brad Bargstadt chose not to seek another term on the board.

Janelle Biernbaum filed an election petition at the Cedar County Clerk’s office on Monday to seek the four-year term on the board.

Unless a write-in affidavit by a new candidate is filed by May 1, Birenbaum will automatically earn the seat after the November election.

There will be a contested election for the Randolph School Board this year. Incumbents Jim Scott, Cody Backer and Lisa Linville are being challenged by Maggie Korth for a spot on the Board.

The Village of Belden has two incumbents up for election on the Village Board this year, but neither one filed for another term in office. Brad Stapelman and Jody Campbell both decided not to serve another term.

The Village of Magnet has three Village Board members up for election this year — Jason R. Becker, James Cautrell and Brad Backstrom. None of the incumbents decided to seek another term on the Board, though.

In Coleridge, Rod Hall, Gary “Shorty” Jansen and Jesse Jackson are all up for election to the Village Board. Only Jackson has decided to seek another term on the board, however.

Ballots for the Primary election will be sent out April 20 and must be back in to the office before the polls close May 12.
