Belden native puts lessons from her father to good use

BELDEN — Patty Schulte learned a great deal from her father.

“My dad was always learning things; I learned that from him,” Schulte said about her father, Lawrence Fuchs.

He helped inspire Schulte to begin tapping the trees on her Belden acreage, as well as other trees in town.

The venture began about four years ago when Schulte’s father shared an article with her about tree tapping. Around this time, Schulte and Richard, her husband, moved back to Nebraska finally settling on her childhood home on an acreage on the southern edge of Belden.
