Bears move to 4-0 with big wins

LAUREL—The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys basketball teams posted a trio of wins over Lewis & Clark Conference opposition during action this past week.

On Tuesday, the Bears took care of visiting Homer with a 77-53 win, as four Bears finished the night in double figures.

Noah Schutte threw in a game-high 26 points to lead the way for the LCC boys. Ty Erwin added 15 points, Cael Hartung put in 14 and Evan Haisch scored 12.

Also scoring were Evan Schmitt with three, Jake Rath, Deagan Puppe and Austin Hall each had two and Lucas Rasmussen hit a free throw.

Schutte had 16 rebounds and six assists to lead LCC. Hartung added nine boards and Erwin had seven. Schmitt led the team with four steals and Haisch had five assists and three steals.

On Friday, the Bears had no problem with Emerson-Hubbard, posting a 71-21 blowout win.

LCC racked up a 48-14 halftime lead and outscored the Pirates 14-1 to put the game away easily.

Erwin led the way with 21 points, Schutte added 18 and Hartung had 14. Haisch put in six points, Puppe added four, Rasmussen and Hall each had three and Schmitt had two.

Schutte had 10 rebounds while Hartung and Haisch had five apiece. Schmitt had eight assists and three steals.

Saturday, the Bears improved to 4-0 with a 60-50 win over Randolph. The Bears built a six-point halftime advantage and kept the Cardinals from mounting a second-half comeback.

Schutte led the way with 28 points and Erwin added 13 for the Bears. Haisch had eight points, Hartung had seven, Schmitt scored five and Hall had two.

Schutte had 12 rebounds and Erwin had seven to go with a team-best four assists. Schmitt recorded four steals.

The Bears hosted Ponca on Tuesday and close the pre-holiday schedule with Friday’s home battle against Plainview.
