Are you ready for Christmas in Wausa?

WAUSA — Bundle up your family, grab that extra pair of gloves, cover up those little ears and you are ready to join our Community as we celebrate CHRISTMAS IN WAUSA! December can be cold and snowy, but getting together as a community to celebrate Christmas will warm your heart.

The celebration will be Monday, Dec. 9 from 5 – 7 p.m. Downtown businesses will be open for you to shop, sip and chat with friends. No need to worry about cars as we all walk freely downtown, main street will be blocked off to traffic.

The east end of main street you will find the “Live Nativity” performed by Thabor Lutheran youth at 5:30 and 6:30. The scene will come alive by Viking Lumber! Come and watch this joyous play!

Then hop on the trolley for a ride around town admiring all the beautiful Christmas lights while singing carols. You can hop on and hop off between Eldorados, Bills, and Big Red.

For the adults, there will be drawings for Viking Bucks, visit any of the businesses to get your card, only one card is needed, once you have 10 businesses stamp your card you can enter the drawing to receive Viking Bucks, which can be spent at any of the businesses in Wausa. There will be a total of 4 winners of $25 each. Winners will be announced at the Village tree and you must be present to win.

The evening wouldn’t be complete without Santa coming to town. Visit the jolly Ol’ Elf at the library, make an ornament with Wendy then go up to the old library where you can decorate sugar cookies!

Christmas is all about children and their evening should be full! School children will be asked to participate in a coloring contest while at school. The winners will be announced while we gather at the Village tree at 7 p.m.

The children will receive small prizes given at a different time.

New this year is our Christmas Scavenger Hunt. Join us following the “Live Nativity” (around 5:45) between the bank and Main Street Grocery. There Sarah Wynia will give you directions to participate. Groups of four are encouraged to participate! Winners will be announced at the Village Tree at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded.

Other activities include making Gingerbread Houses with Chelsey at Carlson Home and Auto and then stop by to make a decoration for our Village Christmas tree. Join us for silly minute it to win in Christmas games on Main Street – craziest tree decorating, corn hole, Picasso sidewalk art! Popcorn will be served by Bloomquist What’s it Shop!

If you have a home business you would like to promote, set up on main street and join in the fun.

At 7 p.m. we ask our community to all join at the Village Christmas tree for announcements of winners of our various contests or drawings, sing some carols and wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS as the Village Christmas tree lights are lit.

This is a Community Club sponsored event. We thank all the businesses for participating and monetary donations.
