O’NEILL — The North Central District Health Dept. announced Monday one additional case of COVID-19 in Knox County.

Through case investigation and contact tracing the case is deemed to be due from community spread.

Knox County now has 12 coronavirus cases — the most of any county in the nine-county health district. Of those, nine are considered as having recovered from the disease.

Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department reported Monday the fourth COVID-19 related death in the health district.

The victim was a resident of Thurston County, in his 60s and had underlying health conditions, said NNPHD Health Director Julie Rother.

“Our sympathies go out to all who have lost loved ones to this virus.” Rother said.

Through case investigation and contact tracing the case is deemed to be due from community spread.

The Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department reported one new positive case of COVID-19 in the health district Monday for people living in the NNPHD Health District of Cedar, Dixon, Thurston and Wayne counties.
