Alumni Center named for Wausa High graduate

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Larry and Linda Pearson participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Pearson Alumni and Conference Center at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City. Construction of the Alumni Center was completed in 2019 and the Pearson’s were the lead donors for the project.

The Center includes a large event area, the university’s Alumni Association and Foundation offices, and meeting and conference rooms. During the program, Joel Kincart, SDSM&T Foundation President, said “We are grateful for the gen erosity of Larry and Linda Pearson. This gift will make a difference for generations to come.”

Larry grew up on a farm near Wausa, the son of Donald and Virginia Pearson. He graduated from Wausa High School in 1968, and received a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from SDSM&T in 1972. He later earned his Master of Business Administration from Creighton University in Omaha in 1981. Linda graduated from Redfield (S.D.) High School in 1969 and earned an associate’s degree at the National College of Business in Rapid City, SD in 1971.
