‘Yesterday’s Lady’ to present the Roaring 20s at Methodist church

OSMOND — United Methodist Women will host their annual guest day on Wednesday, Sept. 8. It will take place at the United Methodist fellowship hall, beginning with a salad luncheon at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at approximately 7 p.m. The program will feature Sue McLain of Beatrice, who will present “The Roaring Twenties.”

Susan McLain, better known as “Yesterday’s Lady,” lives with her husband in the historic 1887 “Schmuck” building in downtown Beatrice, with her vintage clothing collection and shop on the main level. Sue has been collecting vintage clothing for 25 years and has a wide variety of artifacts, ranging from the 1840s through the 1970s. As a Nebraska Humanities speaker, Susan

As a Nebraska Humanities speaker, Susan has traveled the Midwest entertaining groups with a wide selection of fashion programs and shows. In previous years, she has provided the entertainment for the UMW Guest Day with “A Century of Fashion” in 2018 and with “The Little Black Dress” in 2019.

Her other programs include: “The Victorian Lady,” “Decades of Beauty,” “To Top it Off: History of the Hat,” “Fashions for Romance,” “Grandma’s Apron,” “Back to the Beach,” “From this Day Forward...” “An Uplifting Story: History of the Brassiere,” “A Victorian Christmas” and “Vintage Fashion Show.” The program is open to the public.
