‘Fair weather’ enjoyed at Pierce County Fair

PIERCE — One of the things Pierce County residents can usually count on during the fair is that either the weather will be extremely hot or it will rain. Not so this year!

Many fair-goers commented on the nice weather that was enjoyed during the fair, with moderate temperatures and only a light sprinkle of rain during the fair’s five-day run.

Although there was no carnival this year, there were some great alternatives for the kids, including a mechanical bull, G-force wizzer, electronic basketball and a nine-hole mini golf.

With many fairs in the area being canceled or limited because of COVID-19, entertainment at the Pierce County Fair seemed to draw the usual large crowd.

Social distancing, frequent hand-washing or sanitizing and masks were recommended, but masks were not required.

One cancellation was the pancake breakfast; however, organizers say it will be back next year.

Results of the open class and 4-H competitions will be included in the Republican in the next couple of weeks, as they become available.
