Second fatal accident in recent weeks happens east of Osmond

OSMOND — On Thursday, April 20, at approximately 4:50 a.m.,

the Pierce County Sheriff's Office was contacted regarding a motor vehicle accident. They, along with Osmond Fire and Rescue, Randolph Fire and Rescue, Wausa Rescue and Nebraska State Patrol, responded to the accident.

According to the sheriff's office, a white 2017 Ford Fusion operated by Lee Tyus Jr., age 36, of Cottage Grove, MN, was traveling west bound on U.S. Highway 20 near Mile Marker 372 in Pierce County. The 2017 Ford Fusion crossed the center line and collided head on with a 2022 Peterbuilt Tractor and Side Dump Trailer operated by Warren Montgomery, age 71 of Orchard. The passenger of the Ford Fusion, Lauri Ann Bedeaux, age 49, of Hastings, MN, was deceased at the scene. Lee Tyus Jr. was taken from the scene by Randolph Rescue to Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk. He was later transported the UNMC for further treatment. Warren Montgomery was taken by private vehicle to CHI Health-Plainview and then to a hospital in Sioux City. This is the second fatal accident east of Osmond in as many weeks. An O'Neill man was killed and his female passenger injured in a rollover accident on April 12.
