Bears keep rolling along with three more wins
LAUREL — The LCC boys basketball team continued their winning ways with three wins last week.
On Tuesday, the Bears blew the game open in the second half to roll past the Homer Knights at home, 89-43.
LCC built a 50-22 lead at the half before erupting for 30 points in the third period to put the game out of reach.
Three Bears finished in double figures in the win. Trey Erwin had 22 points, Izac Reifenrath tossed in 20 and Noah Schutte had a double-double with 19 points and a team-best 11 rebounds. Cael Hartung scored eight points, Evan Haisch added seven, Dillon Olson and Austin Hall both scored four, Lucas Rasmussen had three and Cody Babl put in two.
Reifenrath had eight steals, seven assists and six rebounds in the win, while Haisch grabbed six boards.
On Friday, the Bears held Emerson-Hubbard to a single free throw in the opening period and cruised to a 69-23 win over the Pirates in Laurel.
Erwin led a balanced attack with 19 points, Reifenrath had a double-double with 13 points and 12 steals, and Haisch dropped in 13 points to lead the offense. Schutte added nine points, Hartung had six, Hall scored five, Deagan Puppe had two and Wilton Roberts and Evan Schmitt both had a free throw.
Schutte led the team with eight rebounds and seven assists. Hartung, Reifenrath and Hall each had three boards and Reifenrath and Erwin both had three assists. Schutte grabbed six steals and Erwin had five.
The Bears improved to 5-0 on Saturday with an 83-51 triumph over Randolph. LCC jumped out to a 24-7 lead after the third period and led by 23 on their way to the easy win.
Schutte had a game-high 26 points and Reifenrath added 23 for the Bears. Erwin scored 15 points, Haisch had eight, Hartung scored six, Babl had three and Rasmussen put in two.
Schutte had another double-double with 14 rebounds and also had five steals. Reifenrath added seven assists, five rebounds and four steals.
The LCC boys faced a big test Tuesday at defending-champion Ponca and will be on the road to play Plainview on Friday and Bloomfield on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
