N.Y. man walks across the U.S. to spread his message

LAUREL — George Ross doesn’t need much. A Bible, his dog, a walking stick and the Lord, that is all the 40-year-old Ross needs on his journey from Syracuse, New York to the West Coast and back. Ross set up his meek tent on the grounds of the Laurel United Lutheran Church last weekend. When Pastor Matt Quanbeck asked him what he was doing, he said he was walking across the United States to give God all the Glory. Ross’s journey started on July 27. He plans to walk all the way to the West Coast to see the sunset and then turn around and head home. He said where ever God leads him, he will go. Ross was not raised as a child to know God or go to church. He had come to a fork in the road.

He had lost both of his parents, the mother of his four children had left him and he could have chosen to go deeper into desperate situations. On Jan. 1, 2017, he started to pray. He shortly learned he did not have the tools needed to survive life. He picked up a Bible and started to read
