More election deadlines are approaching

HARTINGTON — Preparation for the General Election to be held Nov. 6 are well under way at the Cedar County Clerk’s Office. County Clerk Dave Dowling said now is the time for candidates for the races of all Village Boards, Cedar-Knox Public Power District Board, and Educational Service Units #1 Board to file for re-election or for their first term on one of these boards. The filing deadlines for these races are: Monday, July 16, 2018, for incumbents, and Aug. 1, 2018, for nonincumbents.

Dowling said an incumbent is defined by state law as anyone serving in an elective office, even if they are filing for an office other than the one in which they are presently serving. Candidates for Cedar- Knox PPD, and the Educational Service Units are required to file at the Nebraska Secretary of State’s office in Lincoln. Other candidates can file for office at the Cedar County Clerk’s office in Hartington.
