Area students celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday

LAUREL — Children at the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge elementary had huge smiles on their faces when they heard the words “I will not eat green eggs and ham!”

Theodor Seuss Geisel was born March 2, 1904 and this year marked his 115th birthday.

He is a well-known author of children’s books.  Dr. Seuss wrote more than 60 books.  His books have been translated into many languages and sold over 600 million copies.

Every year students from all over the United States honor Dr. Seuss’ Birthday.  Schools have a wide variety of activities that encourage the children to read and celebrate his birthday.  Teachers and principals have had no problem in the past kissing pigs, being duct taped to a wall and many other activities to encourage their students to read.
