Bears take control early, beat Osmond 40-20

OSMOND — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears ran their record to 3-0 with a 40-20 win over Osmond Friday.
Osmond led early in the game 8-0, but the Bears scored 26 unanswered points after that to take control of the contest.
Evan Haisch got the Bears going with a four-yard run, with Dylan Reimers running in the two-point conversion to make it 8-8. Late in the opening period, Reimers caught a four-yard pass from Ty Erwin to give LCC the lead for good at 14-8, and the two would connect again on a 10-yard strike to make it 20-8 at the half.
Erwin gave LCC a three-score cushion in the third period with a two-yard plunge to make it 26-8. Osmond tried to mount a fourth-quarter comeback, but the Bears answered both Tiger challenges in the final period with Erwin hitting Noah Schutte on scoring passes of 14 and 19 yards to close out the win.
Erwin had one of his best efforts throwing the ball, going 20-of-36 for 238 yards and four touchdowns to highlight the offense. He also led the team with 54 yards on nine carries and a touchdown.
Evan Haisch added 38 yards on 12 carries with a score to the Bear ground attack. In the air, Schutte caught 12 passes for 190 yards, Nolan Ohlrich had three catches for 20 yards, Reimers caught two passes for 14 yards and Cael Hartung had two catches for nine yards.
Defensively, Schutte led the way with 12 total tackles and Haisch and Wyatt Taylor each had 11. Ohlrich finished with eight tackles, Cutter Haberman had seven and Hartung added six.
The Bears go for four in a row at Haskell Field on Friday with a key showdown against Neligh-Oakdale at 7 p.m.
