Area kids compete in youth soccer league
LAUREL — The Laurel Soccer program, under the direction of Shana Erwin, Amanda Hansen and Alex McKamy and a host of other volunteers concluded in May.
There were 120 kids that participated. There were 12 teams, six little kids teams and six big kids teams. Kindergarten through second on the small field and third through six on the big field.
The kids played at the old football field at the school and played each other. The games were played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 p.m., 4:45 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. Two games were played at the same time, one game with the older kids and one with the younger kids. The Kindergarten through second soccer teams usually played six to eight minute quarters. The third through sixth grade teams usually played eight minutes quarters.
