February is 4-H Month — It’s time to join the fun!

HARTINGTON — February in Nebraska is 4-H Month and we are ready to celebrate in Cedar County. One in three age-eligible youth are involved in 4-H across the state. In 2018, over 225 youth were members of the Cedar County 4-H program, which is a three percent increase in membership from the previous year.

What is 4-H? 4-H is a positive youth development program that strives to prepare youth for successful futures through career development, healthy living, STEM, and agricultural literacy.

Youth are empowered by their unique leadership skills and entrepreneurial spirits to ensure that they build the life skills necessary to make lasting and positive contributions to their communities.

In Cedar County youth have multiple opportunities to participate in learn by doing workshops with supportive adult volunteers. Most of these workshops are hosted over the summer at a low cost.
