Coleridge woman is arrested, charged with theft of over $14,000

HARTINGTON — A Coleridge woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly using a vulnerable adult victim’s money to pay her own bills. Kayla Hansen, 28, Coleridge, was charged with exploitation of a vulnerable adult, unauthorized use of a financial transaction device, and theft by deception. All charges are felonies. An affidavit for her arrest alleged the illegal activity had been going on for two years — from the fall of 2016 to August 2018, Hansen worked as a caregiver for the victim, taking care of their cleaning and care while they were suffering from kidney failure and were on dialysis.
