Coleridge plans special events for Memorial Day

COLERIDGE — MemorialDayobservances will be held on May 27 with the Coleridge American Legion Carl Korff Post 114,  along with the Auxiliary.

Memorial Day became an official federal holiday in 1971, originally known as Decoration Day.

The weekend of honoring our military veterans will begin on Thursday, May 23 as the community comes together to put up the flags along what is known as the Avenue of the Flags.

Volunteers are encouraged to meet at the community building at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday to help put up the more than 100 flags honoring Coleridge veterans.
