Coleridge couple has experienced over 70 Valentine’s Days together

COLERIDGE — Platinum is both the traditional and modern gift to celebrate a couple’s 70th anniversary. Ask Betty Heitman what husband Don gave her and she might say “He gave me a kiss.” The Coleridge couple joyously celebrated their 70th anniversary on August 14, 2017.

Their son and extended family hosted a well-attended open house. Their nephew made a scrapbook for the couple to always remember this special day. Don Heitman has been a resident of Coleridge, NE since he was in second grade. His family moved to Coleridge from Laurel. He is the oldest of twelve. He and a sister from Randolph, are the remaining two siblings still living. Betty Heitman attended the country school near Pearl Creek until her junior year when she transferred to Coleridge. Betty said, “The country school only went to the 11th grade, after that I went to Coleridge.”
