'Bomb Cyclone' hits hard

What has been classified as a “Bomb Cyclone”, a rapidly intensifying area of low pressure causing hurricane force winds and heavy precipitation, wreaked havoc over most of Nebraska last week, including Coleridge area residents. This downpour, combined with the many days of sub-zero temps, frozen ground and snow-packed ditches produced a recipe for a disaster. Area creeks left their banks and onto area roads and highways. The water damaged many buildings and roads at the Cedar county Fairgrounds. It also surrounded many rural farm buildings in its path. School was shut down early Wednesday and cancelled all together Thursday due to the weather conditions.
