Wausa native helps Wayne State Rugby team bring home the National title

WAYNE — The women on the Wayne State College rugby team have returned from Atlanta, where they won another national championship.

The Wildcats have now won six national titles in only 15 years, five in the Spring 7v7 league, and now one from Fall 15s.

This year, the national championship was held in Atlanta, where Wayne State faced NY Cortland and Colgate on their way to the title.

Leanna Rosberg is a junior business management major from Wausa, and has played on the team for the past three years. Like many college rugby players, she had never played the game before joining the team in college.

“My cousin Alesha got me to play rugby,” said Rosberg. “She and I played together for one year before she graduated. I had not played rugby before college.”
