Wausa bridge; lawsuit are on Supervisor’s agenda

CENTER — Bridge projects, which include a bridge by the Wausa Park, and a lawsuit involving close to $60,000 were part of the agenda for the Knox County Supervisor Feb. 9 meeting.
Board members agreed to have Chairman Jim Sokol Jr. sign a County Bridge Match Program Agreement with the State for funds in the amount of $150,000.
The funds will be used to replace a bridge over Bazile Creek that is one half mile north of Creighton.
The total cost of the project is close to $330,000.
The County Bridge Match Program was put in place when the Transportation Innovation Act became law in 2016, according to Hwy. Supt. Kevin Barta.
“This is a big project. The amount of $150,000 is the max they pay on a project,” he said. “The project has to be completed by Dec. 31, 2018.”
Improvements will also be made on a bridge near Wausa. Guard rails will be replaced on a bridge by the Wausa Park and on another bridge in the area of the golf course.
