Surplus sale not as successful as previous years

CENTER — Board members discussed bridge projects, over $400,000 worth of road equipment that will soon be delivered, the recent County Surplus Sale, made appointments to two county boards, and briefly talked about the need to hire a new 911 Coordinator, during the Nov. 23 Knox County Supervisor meeting.

The County Surplus Sale held Nov. 9 brought in a little over $22,400, according to Hwy. Supt. Kevin Barta.

“The sale went fairly well, but not as good as other years,” Barta said.

Plank on the sale brought between $1.50 and $2.50 per foot.

“It was a good time for people to buy plank. The scrap iron didn’t bring very much either,” Barta said.

Barta has submitted two applications to the State for the County Bridge/Match Program.
